The Town Council will consider approval of the updated Comprehensive Plan when it meets at 6 p.m. Monday, May 6, at the Town Office, 17 Highland Ave. The meeting is open to the public, which can also participate remotely via Zoom; the link is included in the attached agenda, which has links to background information.

The Comprehensive Plan serves as a 10-year roadmap for the community, especially in regards to future land use and housing. Comprehensive Plans carry no regulatory authority. Instead, the documents are meant to be aspirational of where a community envisions itself being a decade after the plan's adoption. If the Council approves the document, it would still require approval from the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry before it would become official. Afterward, the Council intends to establish a standing committee to ensure progress is made on the recommendations within the plan.

Also on the agenda is consideration of a resolution committing approximately $650,000 to a complete upgrade of the Town's emergency radio communications system. The commitment is necessary to secure more than $1.4 million in federal funding for the project.
